Let me introduce myself before giving my opinion on one of the hottest topics of the past few days that I have been unwittingly involved. I'm Laura Pous Tio, professional tennis kol player and passionate sports as the great majority of the people of our country. kol I have 28 years and I have since I was 8 years playing and practicing a sport that I love and thank God for the financial support of my family and my effort, I have opened the door to the world and given me how to make a living with dignity.
That said, the purpose of the letter is to respond to a blog of opinion that was published in Brand entitled "Independents to Stockings" in which Mr. Alvaro Roca mercenary accused me of going to the "Via Catalana" (Catalan in Castilian Way ), while playing for Spain in international tournaments like Fed Cup or the Mediterranean Games.
My presence in the "Via Catalana" was an entirely voluntary act in which I joined the people of Catalonia to celebrate "National Day" and will claim on the right to decide on what you want to do with our future. As a citizen of Catalonia and Spain, I am free to express myself and whether I would like to see independent Catalonia or not, I have the right to play for the country they belong today. And Mr. Alvaro Rock, will answer why. Because although Catalan (independence or not), I am also Spanish (more than French, Italian or Portuguese, I assure you), and as such, I have the right to play for this country that is mine and I do not like that I excluded. A country where I received training as a tennis player was funded by my family or by the Catalan Federation. A country in which religiously pay taxes on all income, that certainly 99% of them come from private kol funding kol tournaments. kol Mr. Rock And please, stop using terms like "put the bucket" and "charge state financial aid" because I assure you that the Catalans also pay taxes and I assure you that my economic contribution and that of the majority of the Catalan sports far exceeds what we have received.
And finally Mr. Rock, not naive, we all have some roots to which we can not give up. We are products of the environment in which we are born fruit of a language, education, way of doing things ("tarannà" in Catalan ") and a culture that makes us different (perhaps Mr. Wert, say it is a defective product). kol If you can not, or will not understand that in the same way I've ever played for Spain and I gave everything on the court, one day I would hope to do in Catalonia, is that understood nothing (and therefore I recommend that you spend less time writing and reading quality kol newspapers). Writing blogs like this the only thing that generates controversy is cheap and gratuitous hatred and unjustified.
I would not put other Catalan athletes who play for Spain in the same bag as mine as each athlete believes and thinks differently but Mr. Rock, it'd be surprised how many of them think like me and not like his writings let's stop competing for a country that is ours. Have a nice day.
